Shooters on the Water...a classic stop every Memorial Day, Labor Day, and a few times in between! I must say, while this used to be a weekly weekend night stop for me, I now can only bare to be there during the day any more. Call me lame (or old...). If you ever been there before, you'll understand why.
This Labor Day, we ventured down there once again...this by far my favorite time to visit, as the Blue Angels fly over during the Cleveland Air Show...so cool!! On to the food!! The menu surprisingly had quite a few options for vegetarians. From salads and wraps, to veggie burgers and pasta. Being that it was the holiday weekend, I decided to splurge and get the unhealthy Rasta Pasta. Basically, Fettuccine Alfredo with spinach, tomatoes and mushrooms. It was delicious, although it was a little heavy for how hot the weather was outside (and humid!). It was 13.99, plus tax and tip. So, it was $18 when it was all said and done. It was delicious, however, I do not think it was worth $18. That being said, I would get it again. Shooters is a Cleveland icon, and you pay for the atmosphere. Knowing that before heading down there, along with expecting high prices, makes the experience much more enjoyable! On a gorgeous day in Cleveland, there's simply no better place to go!

VegHead 101
While I love to cook, I absolutely love going out to eat! Mostly, I enjoy not having to shop and clean-up! I also love the ambience that restaurants and bars provide. And who doesn't love to people watch?!?!
As a vegetarian, I often find myself looking for menus or reviews online before trying a new establishment. For me, I like to know that I have options in a menu, or if the establishment is Veggie Friendly. Sure, I'll go to a steakhouse with my husband and get a salad & maybe a baked potato, no problem-o. It's not my first choice, but I'll make do.
My biggest restaurant pet peeves: 1) smoked cheese. I HATE it! Even if it says vegetarian, if there's smoked cheese in it, I can't eat it. It tastes like meat to me! I wish all restaurants would specify when their cheeses are smoked! I always try to ask, but when you're in the middle of a good conversation, sometimes a girl justs forgets! 2) baked potatoes...in the deep fryer!! If you are calling it a baked potato...BAKE it! I have ordered baked potatoes that taste like bacon before! Then I feel bad asking if the potato was cooked in the fryer...answer being yes! Then call it a fryed potato! Or at least indicated it has been dropped in there, if only for a few seconds. I do not eat anything out of fryers, unless my own deep fryer, and even then I use a separate veggie oil vs meat oil. Call me picky, but I can taste the meat, so I end up throwing it out and still paying for it, so as not to cause a scene.
This blog will be updated when I go out to eat (and when I remember...) in regards to...you guessed it...the vegetarian options that establishments around the cleveland/akron area have to offer! Hopefully, this will help someone like me out!
